Man Land

Bar

When I purchased my house, the basement was completely unfinished with cinderblock walls and lolly columns spanning the whole level. I first had a steel I-beam installed to remove the columns and then had the stairs replaced. Before I put up walls and insulated, I had a French drain with a sump pump installed to avoid any potential water problems.

The Bar

After I completed the walls, floor, and drop ceiling, I built the bar. I used a basic straight-bar design from Bar Gear and modified it to fit my needs and location. All of the materials came from either Home Depot or Bar Boy.

Here are some photos of the bar.

The Theater

The theater took another couple of winters of work. I staggered the studs on the walls and used risilient channel with rubber bushings on the ceiling in order to limit the sound transmission to other rooms in the house. I also raised the second level of seating for a better view of the TV. Eventually, I'd like to put in a front projector for a true movie theater experience.

Bar Back

Theater

I had a tough time finding an affordable bar back for my wall, so I build one myself. I modeled it from one I found on Plaza Gallery.
